Arrowhead Sitka: Advanced Technical Apparel for UK Police and Military Professionals

June 27, 2025

In high-pressure, high-stakes environments, whether conducting operations in remote terrain, patrolling in harsh weather, or managing urban interventions UK police and military personnel demand gear that performs without compromise. That’s where SITKA Arrowhead Equipment, now exclusively distributed in the UK by Viking Arms, comes in.

Arrowhead Equipment is not your average tactical apparel. Born from the proven legacy of SITKA Gear and powered by cutting-edge GORE-TEX fabric technologies, Arrowhead delivers next-generation apparel solutions built to endure and excel in the harshest operational environments.

Ed H, Special Projects Lead at Viking Arms

“The Midlayer Hoody MDWi is the standout item in the range for me. Having worn a wide variety of midlayers from all the well-known brands during my time in the military, this one clearly comes out on top.

The Polartec® Alpha insulation is the most breathable I’ve ever experienced in a jacket. I’ve worn it through harsh winter conditions in the Brecon Beacons and on the windswept beaches of southwest England in spring—it performs across the board.

It blocks wind exceptionally well, making it the perfect layer to throw on during a brew break on the hill. I also appreciate the clean design, with no Velcro patches on the sleeves, so you can wear it anywhere—whether on duty or blending into a more urban environment.

Available in all the key colourways—from Lead (grey) for law enforcement, to Coyote and Multicam for military use—my personal favourite is Ranger Green. It’s ideal both on and off duty.

A superb jacket that’s part of a fantastic performance range.”

Purpose-Built for Operational Success

Arrowhead Equipment was developed with direct input from Global Special Operations Forces (SOF), focusing on mobility, durability, comfort, and protection. Every garment is the result of rigorous design, material innovation, and field validation. The range includes:

  • Baselayers – for comfort, moisture management, and thermoregulation
  • Midlayers – for warmth and flexibility in changing conditions
  • Wet Weather Gear (WWP) – the ultimate barrier against rain, wind, and environmental exposure
  • Logowear – technical and branded apparel for off-duty or light operational use

Whether you’re deployed on a wet, windswept hillside or responding to a critical incident in driving rain, SITKA Arrowhead gear is built to keep you focused on the mission—not the elements.

Wet Weather Protection Like No Other
WWP – MDW System for Wet/Cold Mission Environments

At the heart of the range is the Wet Weather Protective (WWP) Jacket & Pant system, designed specifically for high-demand mission environments. Constructed using GTX 3L 40d Nylon Ripstop with DWR, this trisemble offers:

  • Lightweight, tear-resistant durability
  • Resistance to petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POLs)
  • Exceptional waterproofing and breathability
  • Minimal bulk for operational flexibility

Whether for Special Forces or tactical police units, this system is engineered for reliability, performance, and mobility in wet and cold weather scenarios.

Engineered With SITKA DNA & GORE-TEX Science

The Arrowhead range draws from SITKA Gear’s philosophy of purpose-built design and environmental efficiency, blending it with Gore’s unmatched material science. All garments undergo both lab-based and real-world testing—so when it’s go time, you know your gear won’t let you down.

“There’s a natural alignment between SITKA and the military community. Our focus on high-performance design and long-wearing construction fits perfectly with the demands of professional end-users.”

SITKA Arrowhead Design Team

The Arrowhead WWP system is Berry Compliant, with all core materials—fabrics, insulation, and trims—sourced and developed within the USA. This not only guarantees exceptional quality but also ensures traceability and consistency for professional procurement frameworks.

May 27, 2025

Earlier this month, the Viking Arms Defence team visited 3 Royal School of Military Engineering Regiment (3 RSME Regt) at Gibraltar Barracks, Minley, to deliver a hands-on equipment experience for the British Army’s next generation of Sappers.

3 RSME Regt plays a critical role in delivering combat engineer training, junior command development, and wider support to the Royal Engineers — shaping soldiers who will be vital to the success of future operations. The Regiment’s mission is clear: to produce well-trained and highly motivated military engineers ready to meet the operational demands of Defence.

As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement and improving defence understanding, Viking Arms Defence was proud to provide a practical demonstration of the Glock range of pistols and showcase some of the latest defence equipment in our offering. Viking Arms Proudly Supports VE Day 80 & VJ Day 80

April 16, 2025

Thursday 8 May 2025 marks a momentous occasion—80 years since Victory in Europe (VE Day) and the end of the Second World War in Europe. A few months later, on Friday 15 August, we mark Victory Over Japan (VJ Day), the moment when peace was finally restored to the world following Japan’s surrender. Together, these milestones commemorate the official end of WWII and the beginning of a new era of freedom.

At Viking Arms, we are proud to support this year’s VE and VJ Day 80 commemorations, which honour not only the fallen but also the few living veterans who remain with us today—men and women whose courage and sacrifice shaped the free world we know today.

Why This Year Matters More Than Ever

This 80th anniversary will be one of the last opportunities for the nation to hear firsthand from Second World War veterans. As time passes, it becomes ever more important to preserve their stories, share their memories, and educate the next generation about the values they fought to protect.

As a company rooted in history and tradition, Viking Arms understands the importance of passing down stories of bravery, endurance, and unity. We believe that remembering the past is key to protecting the future—and the freedom we all enjoy today.

A Time to Reflect, Remember, and Connect

We’re proud to stand alongside veterans and their families in this year of national remembrance. Through our support of the campaign and our engagement with the armed forces community, we aim to:

  • Honour those who served and those who paid the ultimate price
  • Thank our living veterans, many of whom still carry the stories of the past
  • Connect communities and generations through shared histories
  • Reflect on the values—freedom, democracy, and peace—that the Second World War generation fought so hard to defend

This is more than a history lesson—it’s a call to action. As Deborah Meaden so powerfully puts it, “We owe them more than remembrance. We owe them action.”

At Viking Arms, our heritage is shaped by those who served—many of whom were our grandparents, great-grandparents, or colleagues. Their stories remind us that peace is hard-won, that values must be defended, and that freedom should never be taken for granted.

As we mark 80 years of peace, we do so with gratitude, humility, and a firm belief that the stories of those who served must live on—not just in history books, but in our daily lives and values.

We are proud to say: They are not forgotten.

Introducing ‘The Beast’: Lindnerhof’s Heavy Load Carrying System

March 26, 2025

Lindnerhof has unveiled its latest innovation in tactical gear—a cutting-edge heavy-duty carrying system dubbed “The Beast.” This new system is engineered specifically for elite units requiring the capability to carry heavy weapons and bulky mission-critical equipment into the field on foot and is available to UK police and military units through Viking Arms.

Built to Tackle the Toughest Loads

With the ability to carry over 20 kilograms of tactical gear across difficult terrains, The Beast offers operators a unique combination of load capacity, comfort, and modular versatility. Designed for durability and ease of use, the system consists of a robust carrying frame and a detachable carrier plate—forming the core of a versatile 5-in-1 platform. Operators can customise it further with accessories such as a multipurpose cover, backpack, additional pouches, and other attachments using strategically placed mounting points.

Enhanced Comfort for Extended Operations

A standout feature of The Beast is its ergonomic carrying frame with reinforced padding that conforms to the natural shape of the user’s back. Lindnerhof has engineered the system to reduce pressure points, ensuring operators experience maximum comfort even when wearing a plate carrier simultaneously. This design helps prevent fatigue, allowing personnel to carry heavy loads for longer periods without discomfort.

Quick-Release Safety Mechanism

Recognising the need for agility and safety in the field, Lindnerhof has integrated a quick-release function into The Beast. This allows users to instantly drop their load in emergencies. Contact surfaces feature breathable mesh material, promoting airflow and quick drying to keep operators comfortable in all conditions.

Modular and Mission-Ready

The carrier plate attaches seamlessly to the carrying frame and boasts an array of attachment points capable of securing anti-tank weapons, heavy weapon systems, and other essential gear. The modular design allows operators to pre-configure multiple carrier plates for different mission profiles, ensuring swift transitions between loadouts.

Optimised Load Distribution

The Beast’s intelligent weight distribution system evenly transfers the load to the carrying frame, reducing strain and enhancing stability. Integrated fixation systems prevent unwanted movement, minimising fatigue by ensuring the load remains secure and stable, even during rapid manoeuvres.

Key Features at a Glance:

  • Load Mounting Options: Direct connection between equipment carrier, frame, and load carrier with secure fastening.
  • Adjustable Fit: Shoulder straps, chest strap height, back length, and waist belt stabilisation.
  • Quick-Release: Emergency load drop capability.
  • Plate Carrier Compatibility: Optional cushioning for improved comfort when wearing a plate carrier.
  • Protective Cover: Dust, spray, and snow protection with roll-up closure.
  • Versatile Configuration: Equipment carrier attaches via buckles or directly mounts to the frame using connecting pins.

Designed to keep up with the demanding requirements of elite forces, The Beast represents a new standard in heavy load carrying systems. It is now available for order exclusively through Viking Arms.

Carrying more, for longer, has never been easier.

Review by Ed H, Viking Arms Special Projects

The Evolution of Combat Clothing
Military and police clothing has come a long way since I first joined the British Army in 2002. Back then, we relied on the Soldier 95 system, which offered minimal enhancements for comfort in the field. The best we could do was invest in a good civilian warm jacket and, if fortunate, an issued windproof smock—though in my unit, even that was a private purchase.

Despite its simplicity, the windproof smock was a timeless design. With four large front pockets and a small sleeve pocket (typically for a field dressing), it proved its reliability in every environment I operated in—from the harsh winters of the Falklands to the cold desert nights of Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, the windproof smock is still widely available, with the Ministry of Defence issuing a Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) version to most units.

Advancements in Combat Clothing

By 2010, issued military clothing had seen a dramatic improvement, largely due to lessons learned from concurrent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dismounted close combat required soldiers to spend a significant amount of time on one knee, often carrying heavy loads, which placed immense strain on the joints. Initially, soldiers had to improvise padding by inserting cut-down roll mats into their trousers, but eventually, Velcro-on knee pads were introduced.
The real game-changer, however, was the development of under-body armour shirts with built-in elbow pads and combat trousers featuring integral knee pads. This shift significantly improved comfort, mobility, and overall performance in the field.

Viking Arms Partners with UF PRO

Viking Arms is committed to providing the best equipment to those who need it most. With that mission in mind, we are proud to announce our partnership with UF PRO, a brand renowned for its cutting-edge combat clothing. UF PRO designs are meticulously crafted to meet the demands of modern military, security, and tactical operators.

Standout Products from the UF PRO Range

Delta Compac Tactical Winter Jacket

For those operating in cold environments, the Delta Compac Tactical Winter Jacket is an essential piece of kit. This lightweight yet warm jacket features G-Loft thermal insulation and can be folded into itself for compact storage—doubling as a pillow for long-haul C-17 flights. Its practicality and efficiency make it an excellent choice for military professionals.

Urban Pro Polo Shirt

The Urban Pro Polo Shirt is an excellent option for Everyday Carry (EDC) needs. Made from a cotton and polyester blend, it balances smart appearance with tactical functionality. This shirt is particularly suited for discreet operations in hot climates, offering comfort and ease of movement while ensuring a professional look. The regular fit also facilitates the concealed carriage of a sidearm.

Striker TT Combat Pants

Designed specifically for tropical environments, the Striker TT Combat Pants are a standout in UF PRO’s extensive range. Having spent considerable time in Southeast Asia and Central America, I can confidently say that the jungle is one of the toughest places to operate, where gear failure is not an option. These combat trousers are made from a super-lightweight yet robust polyamide fabric. The built-in Schoeller stretch panels provide flexibility and help prevent chafing—a critical feature in high-humidity environments. They also feature moisture-wicking knee pad compartments for added comfort.

Two standout design elements set the Striker TT Combat Pants apart:

  1. A rubberised inner waistband – Prevents shirts from untucking, an often-overlooked but persistent issue when carrying a Bergen.
  2. Internal gaiters – Protect against unwanted critters crawling up your legs—a common and unpleasant jungle experience.

Final Thoughts

UF PRO has redefined what combat clothing can offer, blending functionality, comfort, and durability into every design. Whether you need dependable cold-weather gear, discreet operational attire, or rugged tropical combat trousers, UF PRO delivers exceptional quality.

Viking Arms is proud to bring this top-tier tactical clothing to the UK market, ensuring that military and police personnel have access to the best gear available.

Viking Arms Showcases the SMASH 3000 at Security and Policing 2025

March 7, 2025

Viking Arms, the UK distributor for SmartShooter, will be showcasing the SMASH 3000 fire control system at Security and Policing 2025. As the latest advancement in SmartShooter’s cutting-edge targeting technology, the SMASH 3000 is a game-changer in modern warfare and security, delivering unmatched precision and operational effectiveness.

Revolutionising Fire Control Technology

The SMASH 3000 integrates SmartShooter’s proprietary target acquisition and tracking algorithms with sophisticated image-processing software, creating a lightweight, easy-to-use, and cost-effective solution. This system enhances force lethality, ensuring soldiers and security personnel maintain a decisive tactical advantage in dynamic combat scenarios.

The British Army has selected the SMASH X4 Smart Weapon Sight Fire Control System to counter evolving drone threats, underscoring its strategic importance. An initial order was placed to enhance Counter-Small Uncrewed Air Systems (C-sUAS) capabilities. The sights will be issued to high-readiness units across the Army, Navy, and RAF.

Soldier from 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team trialed out the newly issued SmartShooter SMASH, Smart Weapon Sight Fire Control System, from the standing firing position down at Fingeringhoe Ranges on the 5th of March 2024. Paratroopers are taking aim with a new sight that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help them shoot drones out of the sky. 16 Air Assault Brigade, as the Army’s highest readiness formation, is the first to be issued with the new SmartShooter SMASH Smart Weapon Sight Fire Contro

Combat-Proven Effectiveness

The SMASH series has been extensively tested and deployed by global defence forces. 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team, the British Army’s highest readiness unit, has integrated the SMASH X4 into their arsenal, using it to counter enemy drones—a significant and growing battlefield threat, particularly in conflicts like Ukraine.

During trials, the 2 YORKS Experimentation Battalion evaluated the SMASH X4 and SMASH 2000L (precursor to the 3000), confirming their effectiveness in engaging fast-moving aerial and ground threats. The system ensures a shooter’s trigger will only engage when perfectly aligned, dramatically improving accuracy and reducing collateral damage.

Strategic Partnership with Viking Arms

Viking Arms, the UK’s exclusive distributor of SmartShooter’s systems, is at the forefront of delivering next-generation targeting solutions to the UK Armed Forces. The company plays a critical role in equipping dismounted close combat operators with advanced technology, ensuring they stay ahead of evolving threats.

According to Wing Commander Mark Bowden, from the Counter-UAS Programmes Directorate, the SMASH system offers a crucial tactical advantage: “As we have seen in Ukraine and other operational areas, the UAS threat is growing significantly. SMASH enhances the close combat operator’s effectiveness across all three services, providing a clear edge in the C-sUAS battle.”

A Key Capability for the Future

The UK Ministry of Defence recognises the importance of counter-drone capabilities, integrating SMASH into the core equipment programme. The former Minister for Defence Procurement, James Cartlidge, stated: “The importance of uncrewed aerial vehicles on the modern battlefield is undeniable. Alongside procuring and deploying this technology, we must ensure our Armed Forces can counter adversarial drone use.”

By incorporating SmartShooter’s technology, Viking Arms is positioning itself as a leader in next-generation defence solutions, ensuring UK forces have the best tools to counter modern threats.

Viking Arms Engages Future Talent at the 3rd Annual Cadet Careers Fair

February 14, 2025

On Saturday, 8th February 2025, Viking Arms had the privilege of attending the 3rd Annual Cadet Careers Fair at York College & University Centre. This inspiring event, organised by Simon Banks-Cooper, Honorary Colonel of Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF, along with staff from the RFCA for Yorkshire and the Humber, marked the beginning of National Apprenticeship Week 2025. With over 55 employers from across the region exhibiting, the event provided an invaluable opportunity for cadets from Yorkshire and the Humber to explore career pathways and work experience opportunities.

Representing Viking Arms at the event were:

  • Rich Fell, Glock firearms specialist
  • Charles Robinson, Finance Controller
  • Kim Marland, Operations Manager

With 53 exhibitors covering a broad spectrum of industries, Viking Arms stood out by offering an interactive experience for cadets. Our Glock training software proved to be a massive success once again, drawing crowds of eager participants keen to test their skills. This year, we took engagement to the next level by introducing a competition that allowed cadets to enter a challenge: Best of 5, recorded on a Viking Arms scorecard, which also included a QR link to our website for them to take away. At 1 PM, the winner was announced and received a special Glock ‘goodie bag’.

The enthusiasm was palpable, with queues of cadets and their superiors lining up to take part. While only cadets were eligible to enter the competition, the buzz and excitement around our stand were undeniable. Seeing the competitive spirit and determination of these young individuals reinforced the importance of events like this in fostering future talent.

The Cadet Careers Fair is not just an opportunity for businesses to showcase their industries—it serves as a vital bridge between aspiring professionals and potential employers. Viking Arms is deeply grateful to Yorkshire RFCA for inviting our team to participate in such a meaningful event. By engaging with cadets directly, we had the chance to highlight career opportunities within the defence and firearms industry, demonstrating how their discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving skills can translate into real-world careers.

Simon Banks-Cooper, founder of the Cadet Careers Fair, shared his thoughts on why cadets are uniquely prepared for the workplace:

“Employers and entrepreneurs recognise that it’s not just academic qualifications that are key to employability. Wider experiences, generic skills, and emotional intelligence contribute to making a young person work-ready.

The cadet experience offers the development of these invaluable attributes, boosting cadets’ self-efficacy, esteem, and confidence—qualities that employers seek when recruiting. Businesses and organisations attending today’s fair understand that our cadets are prepared for a wide range of opportunities and receptive to all the professional pathways available. We are very pleased that the Cadet Careers Fair is now in its third year, and we expect continued growth in interest and engagement.”

At Viking Arms, we take pride in playing an active role in shaping the future of young professionals. Our presence at the Cadet Careers Fair is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to the UK’s armed forces and the individuals who dedicate themselves to service. As a proud signatory of the UK MOD’s Armed Forces Covenant and a Silver ERS award holder, we are dedicated to supporting veterans, cadets, and service leavers in their career development.

Rich Fell, Viking Arms’ Glock expert, expressed why events like this are so important:

“Viking Arms is proud to support the Cadet Careers Fair. Events like this provide an opportunity to inspire and empower cadets who are eager to shape their futures. As a forces-friendly employer, supporting the cadets aligns with our commitment to fostering a future workforce of skilled, disciplined, and motivated individuals who are prepared to excel in the workplace and drive our company’s success.”

The 3rd Annual Cadet Careers Fair was a resounding success, and we at Viking Arms are already looking forward to next year’s event. Seeing the passion and enthusiasm from cadets eager to learn and grow reaffirms our belief in the importance of investing in the next generation.

A huge thank you to Yorkshire RFCA for organising such an impactful event and to all the cadets who visited our stand. We are excited about what the future holds and remain committed to supporting cadets as they take their next steps towards rewarding careers.
