Day 1 (2 July): Held at the Defence Academy of the UK in Shrivenham, featuring insights from Army HQ and presentations from academia and industry.
Day 2 (3 July): Takes place at Cranfield Universitys COTEC range facility on Salisbury Plain. Includes live-firing demonstrations, opportunities to fire small arms from various manufacturers, and showcases of autonomous and remote technologies, followed by a dinner night.
Day 3 (4 July): Back at Shrivenham for more technology briefs and discussions from industry and academia.

This year marks the 11th iteration of this conference and the third instance of co-locating three significant events, including the innovative Surface Fleet Technology meeting.

Viking Arms: 2nd Annual Cadet Apprenticeship and Careers Fair

On Saturday, 10 February 2024, Viking Arms joined over 55 employers at Askham Bryan College in York for the 2nd Annual Cadet Apprenticeship and Careers Fair. This event, a cornerstone of the national celebration of Apprenticeship Week, provided an unparalleled opportunity for us to connect with Cadets from Yorkshire and the Humber, offering insights into the promising career paths within our industry.

Our participation in the fair was not just about showcasing the opportunities at Viking Arms but also about engaging in meaningful conversations with the Cadets. The diversity and depth of their questions were truly impressive, reflecting their keen interest in understanding the nuances of careers in our field. However, it was the hands-on experience with our Glock training pistols that stole the show, highlighting the practical aspects of our work and the skills we value.

We are deeply grateful to Yorkshire RFCA for inviting our team, allowing Viking Arms to be part of an event that bridges the gap between young, aspiring professionals and the industry leaders who need their fresh perspectives and energy.

The fair was organised by Simon Banks-Cooper, Honorary Colonel of Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF, and RFCA Yorkshire and the Humber. Their efforts made it possible for Cadets to explore work experience opportunities and career pathways in a supportive and informative environment. The success of this year’s fair, following the inaugural event’s success, speaks volumes about the event’s value to both employers and Cadets.

Simon Banks-Cooper’s vision for the fair emphasises the unique qualities that Cadets bring to the workforce. Their experiences have equipped them with essential skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and resilience. Moreover, their strong sense of accountability, self-confidence, and respect for others make them ideal candidates for various roles across industries.
